Change is coming whether we like it or not

– and a planned response to the change will leave us in a much stronger position than if we wait until change is upon us.

Time to Transition !

i'm in Walmer Estate, but I believe in the value of concentrating on one area. So, even if one is from a different area, collaborate with a fairly converted area like Hout Bay, develop communication material, processes and a support network etc and then apply it in your own area. Walmer Estate is a good flagship in the sense that they have an existing community support network. The challenge would be in introducing the concept of transition and getting buy-in. As opposed to breaking down social insular culture that one might find in wealthier suburbs.

I work for an NGO called the African Carbon Trust, who's focus it is to create awareness for climate change and to assist SA in moving towards a low carbon economy. Obviously transition cities is a major solution. There might be an opportunity to sync and or facilitate a regular event. Our site is www.africancarbontrust.org.

I think it would be great to arrange an informal discussion amongst existing members of Transitiontowns?
